Refrigerant flows through your system and changes between a liquid and a gas. Indoors, it absorbs heat from your air at the evaporator coil. Outdoors, the compressor and condenser release that heat to the outside. The cooled air is blown back into your rooms, and the cycle repeats.
Because your system also pulls humidity out of the air, sizing matters. An oversized unit cools quickly but does not run long enough to remove humidity, leaving your home cold and clammy. Right-sizing is one of the most important parts of a good installation.
